Donate your Bike – Don’t Abandon it!

The MSU Pack-up Pitch-In campaign is in full swing!

Are you no longer needing your bike? Thinking of leaving your bike on the rack and hope it’ll be waiting for you in the fall? Well, please consider donating it directly to MSU Bikes rather than leave it to be vandalized or stolen over the summer. Or remove it from the rack and drop it off at the “Pack up Pitch in” donation location available in each hall.


MSU has very few staff for hauling stuff around this year, so if you can PLEASE drop it off at the MSU Bikes Service Center before you leave campus (link to location info). If you have no time to drop it off please take it to the designated donation station in your residence hall.

If you’re wanting to store it for the summer and know that it’ll be waiting for you in the fall consider the secure bike parking garages on campus (there are 2, one in the car parking ramp next to Olin Health and one near the MSU Parking/ Police station). The MSU Parking Department manages them so go here to learn more & register to use them.

After close to 19 years of renting basic transportation bikes we’ve decided to experiment with offering some premium bikes as part of our rental fleet.

More info about these new rental bike options:

  • Planning to do a triathlon but don’t want to go out and buy an expensive bike to see if you’ll enjoy it?  Or maybe you’ve got some friends visiting and want to go for a nice long road ride in the country?  We’ve got a couple very nice, updated road bikes (1 smaller & 1 larger) for rent now under our Premium Rentals service!
  • Ever want to try a tandem for a day or weekend to see how you’ll like it?  We’ve got a very nice, updated and easy to ride tandem available now under our Premium Rentals service!
  • Heard about belt-drive bikes and want to try one before buying?  We’ve got 2 available in our Premium Rentals service!
  • If this goes well this season we’ll be adding more of these kinds of bikes to our rental fleet in the future.

Notes: Premium rentals are only available for daily/ weekend/ week rental periods. They also require a higher deposit, so if you’re renting online make sure you choose the higher deposit when checking out.  If you accidentally choose the lower deposit amount we’ll charge you the difference when you come to get the bike.

    If you’re looking for a good winter bike (rather than ride your nice bike in the nasty winter conditions) check our currently available ready-to-ride refurbished bikes!  We will be adding “new” used bikes daily so keep checking this page or stop by the shop to test ride one!
